Day 1: Puerto Maldonado
Puerto Maldonado Reception at the airport and transfer to our office in the city of Puerto Maldonado. The luggage that you do not need during your stay in the jungle can be stored in our warehouse to avoid transport problems. Boarding at the Puerto de Capitanía towards our Lodge: a 40-minute sailing trip along the Madre de Dios River Arrival at the facilities of the Corto Maltes Amazonia hostel where we will receive you with a soda of natural fruits from the station. Then, your guide will give you the necessary explanations for your stay, you will be given the keys to your bungalow and safe, after this you will have lunch and rest until the first excursion. 3:30 pm. Departure for your first contact with the jungle, accompanied by your guide, who will show you the tropical trees, medicinal plants and other exuberant nature of the 60 ha concession that keeps the Maltese Short Amazon. Small stop at a viewpoint where toucans and other birds are observed. The time for this hike is 2 to 3 hours. On the way back to the hostel, you can relax in the pool or in the hammocks on the terrace of your bungalow, have an exotic cocktail in the bar, take a relaxing massage by qualified personnel, buy a souvenir of the jungle in our shop handicrafts. or go to the jetty on the river to watch the sunset. 7:00 pm Before dinner, they will take a night boat ride for a fun “alligator safari” where also, hopefully, other animals that live on the banks of the river can be observed.
Day 2: Tambopata
Tambopata We wake up at 5:30 a.m. to have a coffee or hot infusion before leaving for Lake Sandoval. The guide will deliver a snack breakfast that will be consumed during the excursion to Lake Sandoval. 06:00 a.m. After sailing about 20 minutes along the Madre de Dios river, we arrive at the pier of Lake Sandoval. With a 3 km walk through the lush vegetation of the tropical forest we will enter the territory of the Tambopata National Reserve. You can admire gigantic trees, snakes, monkeys (wasitas, cotomonos or cappuccinos), birds (highlighting the shanshos, yanhingas kingfishers). Once in Lake Sandoval we will sail in small rowing boats in search of the river wolves. We can also observe alligators, piranhas and a great variety of birds. We will stop at a point with a typical construction of the region equipped with hammocks, toilets and bar, to be able to have breakfast, rest for half an hour and gain strength for the walk back to the pier of Lake Sandoval and head to the Island of The monkeys. About 5 species of monkeys live freely on the Monkey Island. These animals are already accustomed to the visits of tourists and can get very close to people so we must always follow the guide’s instructions. 1:30 p.m. We will return to the lodge for lunch 15: 30h. We will visit one of the two towers that Corto Maltes Amazonía has in its facilities. One is 20 meters high and the other 42 meters high. Both are designed for sighting birds and other species from above and you can also enjoy a beautiful sunset (the guide will coordinate which one to visit depending on the preference of the passengers). Free time to enjoy the pool or a massage, drink something refreshing in our bar or visit our boutique. 20: 00h: Dinner
Day 3: Tambopata
Tambopata08: 00h Breakfast. 09: 00h After about 20 minutes of crossing the river we will visit a farm. It is a land operated, in this case, by a local family. Here we will know and we can even taste different tropical fruits of the season and other native products (cocoa, banana, cocona, tree bread, noni, cassava, lime …). This place belongs to a typical rural family in this area, who keep very carefully and without chemicals some native plants that grow naturally and then take to the main market of Puerto Maldonado for consumption. 13: 00h Return to the lodge for lunch 14: 00h We will visit a family of Machiguenga natives, one of the many ethnic groups that exist in the Peruvian Amazon, who will show us part of the cultural value of their ancestors, their language and customs, their clothing, their hunting gear, their crafts and the music they play during the ayahuasca ceremony. They will teach us how they take advantage of natural products to make tools, their homes, dresses and ornaments, all of them important for their daily life and they will share some secrets about the basic medicinal plants they use for their cures. 17:00 Return to the lodge to rest and have free time to visit the boutique, cool off in the pool, have a cocktail at the bar or have a relaxing massage. 20: 00h: Dinner
Day 4: Puerto Maldonado – Next Destination
We wake up at 5:30 a.m. to have a coffee or hot infusion before leaving for a walk of approximately 20 minutes until you reach the parrot collpa, where you can observe between 3 to 5 species of parrots, who go down to eat a special clay which is found in some areas of this region. This is indispensable for bird metabolism and a really wonderful and exciting color show. 08: 00h Breakfast and free time. After breakfast you will be transferred to the city of Puerto Maldonado on our boats. In the Puerto Capitanía, the mobility will wait for you to go to our office, then continue with direction to the local market where a small tour will be made and you will be able to appreciate the different local products that the population supplies. After this visit, we will continue on our way to the airport to check in their respective flights.
